Geetika Sahini

Research Fellow

Geetika is a bioengineer by training and works in the areas conjugating the disciplines of 3D tissue engineering and stem cell biology. She has completed her B.Eng in Biotechnology and M.Tech in Nanotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India. After two years of academic teaching experience in India, she enrolled as a PhD scholar at National University of Singapore (NUS). Her PhD work focused on using cell micropatterning approaches to develop a robust human pluripotent stem cell-based 3D neuroectoderm model to study neuronal diseases. As a research fellow in Viasnoff lab, her research interest is to explore the mechanobiology of the formation of 3D early embryonic tissues (gastruloids and neuroids) from human pluripotent stem cells. She also has a strong interest in incorporating the designed tissue models in an imaging compatible platforms to understand 3D cellular behaviour on a temporal scale.
